Has anything bad EVER come from Sweden? I can't think of anything that has. When asking my close friends they could only mention good things (well, Vikings were pointed out, but that was a while back so I expect they can be forgiven). Since I've become aware of this acute obsession, I'm (half-heartedly) planning a move to Gothenburg, to a dark coastline, making patchwork quilts in front of old Bergman films and listening to electro-pop (when cooking my meatballs).
GOOD THINGS FROM SWEDEN that I like.
(Clockwise from top left)
Beyond Retro; Hasbeens clogs; Kristen Henriksson in "Wallander"; Ikea; The Tallest Man on Earth; Sad Day for Puppets; Robyn; Shout Out Louds; H&M; Harriet Andersson in "Summer with Monika" 1953; Jocke Berlund's "Hurricane Tree"; First Aid Kit; Lykke Li; Ingrid Bergman.
Yes, I used paint to create that collage- I suppose I should invest in some proper software so my pictures look *slightly* better in future. Anyway, I've been recommended the film "Let the Right One In" by several of my friends, which I'm looking forward to seeing (hopefully, soon). Surely it won't let me down if it's Swedish. Not forgetting the likes of Jose Gonzalez, The Knife, Jens Lekman and of course, ABBA, amongst others, but I felt this post was already saturated with pictures, stolen from Google images. Thanks Google.
For good measure, my top 3 songs from Sweden at this very moment in time:
The Tallest Man on Earth- You're Going Back (The Wild Hunt, 2010)
Lykke Li- Tonight (Youth Novels, 2008)
Shout Out Louds- Very Loud (Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, 2005)
So, as you can tell I have not yet worked out how to imbed music or movie files, or even if I'm legally able to. I'm painfully untechnical and don't tend to trust computers, but (hopefully) I'll learn how to put together a blog properly through trial and error, so please bear with me.
I'm still not sure whether this blog will be updated often or even become a habitual part of my life. I'm also unsure what I'm going to focus on- music, film, fashion, reviews, ranting...the lot? I expect much of the content will be about my year abroad in Paris (!) from September, but right now, it's just for me, and what's on my mind. And also for taking far too long pissing about on paint.
KM.
